After much speculation, Astroworld's
"Serial Thriller" arrives at The Great Escape. Scott
Maupin, GM of The Great Escape has denied the coaster is on site,
despite track pieces on the park's property. GECentral took pictures
of the track pieces the day they arrived on-site, and posted them on our
forum. Days after we published the photos, the local media has
picked up on the story as well. The park still denies the coaster is
on-site, even though we proved that it is.
The coaster itself came
from the now defunct, Astroworld. Also owned by Six Flags. On Sept.
12, Six Flags announced it would close the 109-acre AstroWorld. The
37-year-old park had purchased Serial Thriller in 1998 and opened
the ride for use in 1999. The ride was a $10 million investment by
the park.
There are many rumors as to where the coaster
will be located, and when it will debut. RCDB.com had it listed to
open in 06' when the news hit. Soon thereafter, they changed it to 07'.
It is still unclear when the coaster will debut, and where it will
be located. As of January 1st, no formal proposal has been brought
to the town of Queensbury. Once we receive more information on this
story, we will bring it to you.
