Summer may be well behind us, but the Great Escape & Splashwater
Kingdom is gearing up for another season.
Park officials hope a new ride gets town approval so it can "touch
down" by summer.
Officials from the water park are submitting plans to the Queensbury
Town Planning Board on Tuesday, hoping to add The Tornado to the
park.
The ride starts out on top of a platform 50 feet high, and guests
get an overall view of the entire waterpark before getting onto a
four-person raft.
Once on the raft, they'll shoot through a winding tunnel, where
they'll ride back and forth on 5,000 gallons of water. At the end of
the ride, they'll land in a calm pool at the bottom.
The Tornado, which is a giant blue and yellow checkered funnel on
its side, will be near Capt'n Hook's Adventure River.
The Tornado has won several awards in the amusement park industry.
Great Escape officials say more details will follow in the spring of
2007.
Great Escape Central
will keep everyone updated with any news regarding The Tornado, as
well as other unannounced plans that are slated for the 2007
operation season
